A copy of Hieronymus Bosch's painting "Carrying the Cross", 1516
Author: Epifanov Pavel

wood/oil 77cm x 84cm 2021
"Carrying the Cross", which is located in the Art History Museum of Gent, has traditionally been attributed to Hieronymus Bosch and was considered almost the most "Bosch" of all his creations. However, according to the most recent studies, the painting is considered to be the creation of another, unknown artist, who may have been a student of the great maestro, or simply influenced by him. Anyway, the work is truly remarkable, vividly illustrating Freuds theory and anticipating twentieth-century surrealism.
