The painting depicts an old footman and a boy (barchuk) engaged in catching birds. The old man is lying on the ground, whistling a pipe to lure birds, and the boy is sitting next to him, ready to close the trap. Kamsky retained the style and composition of the original, conveying realism and emotional depth.
