The painting is a view of the ruins of an old abbey in Brittany. The composition combines the beauty of a man-made creation - a beautiful Gothic building, and a garden laid out in these ruins. Hydrangeas grow along the walls, and apple trees grow between the walls. The dead and the living coexist and complement each other.
Both of these works are done in oil in a specific technique - thin, voluminous vertical strokes, which creates the effect of image draining. The image itself acquires a pronounced vertical relief.
The painting can be hung on the wall without a frame; the image is continued at the ends. A copy of it is offered in the same design, with the transition of the image to the ends and the formation of relief on the canvas.
The actual colors may differ slightly from those shown on the screen due to the difference in individual settings.
