This work was born out of a desire to capture a moment of pure joy — that smile in which warmth, sincerity and a little light of the soul are felt. I wanted the look and the slight dimples on her cheeks to convey the feeling of a lively, warm presence.

I chose dry pastel because it allows you to touch the shape almost as if it were alive — smoothly, without sharp lines. The light tinted paper helped to preserve the softness and lightness, so that the face and hands seemed to radiate inner light.
