Biography

Elena Drobenkova is a professional artist, graduated from Moscow State University named after M.V. Sholokhov, Faculty of Graphic Design. She studied with the remarkable artist Andrey Alekseevich Unkovsky, a student of the famous impressionist socialist realism Sergey Vasilyevich Gerasimov and avant-garde artist Alexander Vasilyevich Kuprin.
Now Elena Drobenkova is engaged in art criticism, and directly - goes to the open air or writes flower still lifes and interior sketches.
Based on the knowledge gained in the traditions of the Russian academic school of painting, Elena creates lyrical landscapes that subtly convey the various states of nature.
Early spring, a piercing blue sky with flying fluffy clouds and awakening timid first foliage.
Or the chill of a March day, with picturesque skies blowing away the first spring thunderstorms. The peeping sun illuminated last year's grass in the distance and the transparent forest in a light veil of swollen buds, and the first tender greenery in the foreground.
Elena's works show a reverent attitude to the world around her, admiring the seasonal states of nature and the ability to capture and freeze a moment on paper.
Her painting is distinguished by the light hand of a professional who knows how to convey the mood and feeling of freshness of a frosty day, with sparkling crisp snow or the bliss of the afternoon summer sun, the state of silence and peace, or the creeping spin of autumn blues in a fresh and clean way.
Elena Drobenkova is a member of the Association of Plein Air Artists, she actively supports the plein air movement in the name of preserving the cultural and historical heritage of Russia. Some of her landscapes were painted in the open air organized by the Association, including the project Coordinates of History: Russian Estates. He is also a member of the National Union of Pastelists of Russia, the Eurasian Art Union. Permanent participant of Russian and foreign exhibitions.
Elena loves to work with pastel, because it is pastel that makes it possible to quickly capture the general color and tone state of the plot and accurately convey the natural nuances of color. Oil with its long-drying layers and multiple registrations in the open air allows you to write only sketches. And with pastels, in one plein-air day, you can bring the work to the maximum to an easel landscape.
Dry pastel, with its fragile painterly layers, usually produces subdued soft work.
But even in pastel works, Elena manages to carve sonorous juicy colors and create expressive works, so reminiscent of Russian avant-garde and European impressionism.
