Astrakhan exchange department. An outstanding architectural monument of modernity of the early 20th century. The exchange committee and exchange, which served to conclude trade transactions, were approved in Astrakhan in 1870 and were located in a wooden building. By the beginning of the 20th century, with the growth of trade ties and the strengthening of the role of Astrakhan in the Russian economy, the old building ceased to meet the increased requirements. In 1906-1910, on the site of a wooden building according to the project of architect V.B. Valdovsky-Varganka erected a new building of the exchange with outstanding architecture with an extensive inner hall.
