The House Of Merkulv

The house of the residential with the office of the Merkulv Brothers - Astrakhan, ul. Sverdlova d. 37.
The merchant mansion was built in 1896-1899 by the merchant Ivan Merkulev, according to the project of the provincial architect Adam Sigismundovich Malakhovsky.
At the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century, the surname Merkulevs was known not only in Astrakhan. The Merkulv Brothers Partnership, established in 1887, was engaged in salt mining on Lake Baskunchak, salt trading and oil products, as well as the development of the shipping company by the Caspian, Volga, Oka and Kama. In 1907, the partnership was transformed into the Ocean Joint -Stock Company, in turn, which later grew into a large concern.
