Kuskovo, Grotto, the beginning of summer

Kuskovo, late May or early June, the grass turned white from faded dandelions. The day is cloudy, but the soft rays of the sun still seep through the cloudy veil, illuminating the side facade of the Grotto, the balustrade on the roof and the figured window in the dome.

"Grotto" in translation from Italian means "a cave". Imitations of grottoes first appeared in the gardens and parks of Italy already in the 16th century. Subsequently, they became popular in many countries of Europe. By the eighteenth century, the fashion for their arrangement reached Russia, but already, as a rule, as park pavilions, as in the estate of Count Sheremetev.
The work is framed in a narrow pink frame and white passepartout with protective glass.
