The artist Oleg Vysotski occupies a significant place in modern art.
He is an artist who treats classical art with deep understanding, who tries to penetrate into philosophical and aesthetical conceptions of ancient and modern philosophers and thinkers, who continues the tradition of the Russian national XX century culture, which was based on the search of semantic meaning of the symbolic art, and the new possibilities of expression of the plastic language.
The canvases exhibited by Oleg Vysotski – this is a poem about the Infinity where the visible is subjected to the invisible, where the images are born on the unstable boundary between the reality and the dream and fantasy, where in the eternal movement of fine matter presented in elaborate shapes invisible worlds of the Universe open up in all its breathing, sounds, colors.
The theme of the Cosmos occupies a particular place in the creative work. This theme is becoming the key theme in the modern fine arts for a whole generation of painters. And it is not just a contribution to fashion. The awareness of the unity of the man and the Cosmos, the understanding of the Cosmos as a living environment, as a special spiritual space, corresponds to our view of the beauty, the whole, the harmony. Infinite spiritual worlds of the Universe have become source of inspiration of Oleg Vysotski, who has been dedicated to this theme for many years. In his works “Breath of the Space” and “Metamorphoses” a special role is played by the composition with balls as moving and emerging cosmic organisms, carrying light, living and full of energy among other worlds of the boundless Universe.
O.Vysotski knows how to communicate with nature, how to listen its mysterious voices, how to transform them into chords and harmony of colourful tones and forms. In his works of the series “Manifestations of Nature” and “Transformation of the World” the play of spots of light, of original rhythmical patterns – either spherical, or emerging from the depths of the earth – of wavy lines, intertwining spirals – all these convey the inner expressivity and pulsation of forms in the living space of reality.
In the series “Waterfalls” the arstist creates the feeling of the flowing energy of water in the unfathomable depth pierced through by the light-bearing space of the Cosmos. His series originate like a flood of improvisation in which light has a special role to play. He may be shaping the space of the canvas, or arranging the composition according to his own inner logic – everything radiates a golden, silvery, pearl-gray light which adds spirit – either chamber-lyrical or symbolic – to this world of images.
A similar approach to the imagery has been used in the series of canvases “Shores” and “Worlds”.
The series “White on the White” stands out among others with its particular expressivity: on a white sheet of paper, by masterful strokes, the artist marks the form which begins to pulsate under the very eyes of the viewer, creating an impression of the birth of life emerging from a status of non-existence – the birth of a new world. Surprising finesse and elation seems to emanate from the canvases of the series “The Temple”. These paintings radiate strong energy and light.
The artist executes his works using an original mixed technique, by first applying on paper a thin layer of oil paint, then watercolors, tempera, acrylic, he manages to convey complex shades of color, he makes a moving form visible, he makes it live, breathe, pulsate, creating the impression of movement, of the actual manifestation of the Universe itself.
