Creative Method:
In his work, Artist Aleksandr Pichkalev combines two directions:
• The first direction is decorative marine art in the style of post-Impressionism. It pays tribute to romantic sea voyages, executed with a palette knife using bright colors. These paintings convey emotions and moods of the sea through expressive brushstrokes and intense color schemes.
• However, the special depth of his creativity manifests itself in the second direction — historical painting with elements of marinism. Here, seascapes and ships become not just background but places where history and mythology intertwine. Each work is inspired by real historical events but interpreted through the prism of dreamlike and symbolic vision. A central element of composition often features an image of a girl or goddess who embodies the spirit of time, ship, crew, fate, or the very essence of what’s happening. This approach allows Alexander to create multi-layered works that invite viewers to reflect on the connection between past, present, and myth.
