Biography
My name is Maria Melkova, and I am an artist for whom painting is an inseparable part of life. I was born in 1982 in Omsk, Russia. I graduated with honors under the mentorship of Sergey Sochivko, a distinguished artist of the Russian Federation.
Every day of mine begins and ends with a brush in hand. Thanks to my education in marketing, I skillfully analyze the art market and create works that resonate with a broad audience while holding strong commercial appeal.
Currently, I have over 50 artworks of various sizes, ranging from 15×20 cm to 80×110 cm. My paintings are exhibited annually in prestigious venues such as the Kondraty Belov Museum in Omsk and the City Museum "Art of Omsk." From October to November 2025, I am featured simultaneously in two exhibitions in different cities: “Fairy Tales Come True” at the ART Gallery of Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg in Yekaterinburg, and “At the other end of the world” at the Kondraty Belov Museum in Omsk.
My works have found homes in private collections worldwide, including Austria, Spain, Germany, Kazakhstan, and Russia. In my paintings, I blend classical fairy tale themes with original mythological stories, creating pieces that inspire both admiration and thoughtful reflection.
I primarily work with oil paints, using vibrant colors to convey the metaphorical nature of the world around us. My paintings come alive before the viewer’s eyes, evoking vivid emotions—from childlike joy to nostalgic melancholy. I strive for sincerity and aim to create an atmosphere of hope and magic, which I believe is essential for those seeking balance between reality and dreams.
My goal is to convey the joy of life through art. My paintings touch the heart and leave no one indifferent. Exhibited in museums and galleries across Russia, my work often sparks emotional responses, reminding viewers of their childhood and bringing happiness.
I continue to grow creatively in my own studio, building on the foundation I received from Sergey Sochivko. I maintain a website and have over 500 followers on my VKontakte page, who eagerly follow all my artistic updates.
