Biography


Arthur Aleksandrovitch Sargsyan was born in Armenia in Leninakan in 1974 He
started drawing at the age of three, entered the art school in 1980, and in 1981
entered the secondary school. In 1985 he graduated from the art school, and in
1991 he graduated from the secondary school and in the same year he entered the
Terlemezyan’s higher art school in Yerevan. He took part in the exhibition of
young Armenian artists in Paris in 1997 and got the Grand Prix. In 2000 he moved
with his family to Saratov and started working in the SSTU Techno-park (Saratov
State Technical University) as a designer. In 2001 as a result of an accident he
drowned in the river Volga. In 2002 there was an exhibition of his work at the
Saratov State Technical University and in 2003 at the Museum of Radishchev.
After the exhibition in 2007, SSTU together with the Radishchev’s Museum
initiated publishing a book " Who am I….." devoted to Arthur himself and his
works.
Arthur was mostly engaged in graphics and watercolor, although he had
ceramics craftworks. His basic style was surrealism, although he painted portraits
perfectly. In his youth he was fond of cars. He could draw with a ballpoint pen.
His favorite authors and books are Dostoevsky, Camus, Kafka, Freud, etc. He was
equally fluent Russian, Armenian and English.
