Biography

Hi, my name is Kirill Kornilov, also known as Kirill Farke, I am an artist and ex-graffiti writer. I was born and grew up in Ivanovo city, Russia. Now living near Moscow.

I have been involved in street art and graffiti since 2006. At that time I was impressed with Hip-Hop culture and started painting graffiti on walls in the city. My nickname is a graffiti tag from that time. I choose a semi-legal part of graffiti - writing - where the quality and artistic value matter, and had a few successes in it. In 2008-2012 I took part in a lot of festivals, jams etc, and took 1st and prize places in different cities (Moscow, Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Tula, Vladimir, Cheboksary). Also I was published in Russian Street Art catalog "Urban roots" and others magazines, created big walls with my crewmates, which granted me some fame thanks to Internet. After certain top point on 2010-2012 I change my focus to classical art: oilpainting.

I started painting with oils in 2015. The reason was my surf-trip to Bali, Indonesia where I came to surf. It was my child dream, and the ocean and the surfing have impressed me a lot. Interaction with that powerful elemental force with the deck defined one of my main and lovely theme in art: waves. Back in Russia I bought all I need for oil painting and start with painting. In addition to that I was carried away by the idea of plein air painting. I created over 60 artworks (paintings and studies) in 2017. Living near Moscow I fell in love with fields, lakes and forests of middle-earth landscapes of Russian nature.

Besides the landscapes and seascapes I love revealing two of my favourite kinds of extreme sports in my artworks: surfing and snowboarding. Two years in a row I bring an easel when I go to a mountains for snowboard trip, and try to catch the beauty of the mountains from extreme spots which are avaliable only by the deck.

For last several years I painted in a lot of cities of Russia, Georgia, Greece and Andorra and take part in 5 group exhibition. This year was successfully held my first solo exhibition in Ivanovo, Russia.
