Biography

Painter. Member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. Lives and works in the city of Perm. 32 personal exhibitions; participation in 24 Russian international and 4 foreign exhibitions. Paintings in private collections in Perm, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, etc., and abroad (USA, Germany, England, Israel, South Africa, etc.).

“…Completely unexpected for the Moscow eye are the works of the Perm painter V. Chugaev, sonorous in color and bold in composition. The name of an unknown author from the Russian province speaks of a kind of new “grafting” and “shoots” on the common trunk of Russian painting. Chugaev’s still life “Harvest” in its brightness and inner strength, as if bursting with fruit, is akin to the classical still lifes of Ilya Mashkov, who sang “Moscow food” and other gifts of nature. The expressive composition of the same author, “Football,” goes back in style to another strong figure of Russian art of the 20th century, Alexander Deineka, who created many cheerful, life-affirming works dedicated to sports and youth...” Moscow, 2006
