Biography

Elena Panchenya (b. 1981, Babruysk) is a contemporary Belarusian artist working in the technique of botanical bas-relief. A member of the International Academy of Modern Art (MASI).

At the age of 40, leaving her previous profession behind, she fully dedicated herself to art.
Having independently honed the intricacies of her technique for several years, the artist continues to experiment with forms, study plants, and combine techniques within bas-relief. She began her professional creative journey in 2024. She has participated in republican and international level exhibitions.

* Participation in the ART EXCELLENCE AWARDS exhibition-competition, Spring 2025 - Gold Medal.
* Saint Petersburg Art Week 2025, 1st Place Diploma.
* International Exhibition "Art-Christmas," Moscow 2025, 2nd Place Diploma.
* International Exhibition in Beijing "Art Expo in China," 3rd Place Diploma.
* All-Russian Historical, Local History, and Exhibition Project ART-GEOGRAPHY OF RUSSIA in 2025.
* Republican Art Exhibition Viva cola art 2024, Belarus.

In Elena Panchenya's works, one can see clear, highly detailed plant bas-reliefs. She also uses deep counter-relief and sometimes high relief. Harmonious natural compositions or botanical abstractions – every vein, petal curve, and leaf texture paints its perfect patterns on this author's panels.

"Despite the modern world of gadgets and technological development, people always feel spiritually at peace in nature," reflects Elena. "They rest and draw strength from it. Most of my works are created in a creative impulse. I am also curious to fantasize and present botanical bas-relief in different styles and techniques. I create classic white bas-reliefs, using engobes and watercolors in painting. Sometimes bright acrylics and wax. After all, nature is diverse, as is the artist's mood. I merely explore its multifacetedness... preserving the breath of nature in each work."

In the digital age, the author creates tactile artworks where ephemeral beauty becomes permanent, the fragile turns durable, and the organic transforms into an art object.

"By education, I am an engineer, but by the call of my heart, I am a creative person. Yet, strangely enough, my education helps me in my art," says Elena. "For example, creating vases with bas-reliefs of living flowers requires designing the formwork structure and a step-by-step technology."

The author developed her own casting mixture recipe suitable for finely detailed bas-reliefs, based on ground marble, sculpting gypsum, and other additives to enhance strength.

"This solution was a necessity, as bas-relief parcels travel long distances, and strength is a crucial factor," explains the artist.

Her mission is to preserve the beauty of plants for the future and to teach people to see the magic in every blade of grass. Her art objects carry a profound social message concerning ecology and the value of the plant world for humanity.
