Mezen painting. Krynka

Mezen painting is not simple and very ancient. According to some sources, this painting is not one thousand years old. Our ancestors with the help of it not only decorated objects, but also protected themselves, their families, their homes, their lives. In this painting, each symbol, up to a dot, has a certain meaning. And this is not just creativity, it is part of the worldview of our ancestors.

I have been studying Mezen painting since 1984 and adhere to the traditional approach to this painting. Fundamentally I do not introduce anything new. Its important for me to keep traditions. Nowadays, on the Internet there are many images vaguely reminiscent of the Mezen painting. People do not want to stick to old knowledge. And some of this knowledge simply does not exist and they draw as you want. I think this is wrong. Our roots are our strength! We must preserve and transmit the traditions of the Slavic people!

And how interesting is the process of working on this painting! When you know each symbol and know what it carries, its real as if you are writing a story (but not about past events, but about the desired future).
