Most of the deadly sins are defined by Dante Alighieri as perverted or depraved versions of love: lust, gluttony and greed are all excessive or disordered love of things; anger, envy and pride are perverted love aimed at causing harm to others. The only exception is laziness, lack of love. The seven deadly sins are seven paths to eternal death.
