The Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the first stone church in St. Petersburg. It was built in 1717-1725 on the territory of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. The upper church was consecrated in honor of the Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, the lower one in honor of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Members of the imperial family, statesmen, and commander Alexander Suvorov are buried here.
