Paris: The Wheel of Time

The work refers to the concept of time as a form of ordered energy that humans can perceive and set in motion.
Shamans saw time as a tunnel of infinite length and width, a tunnel with mirrored grooves. The silver line in the painting is a mirrored groove. The sky, repeated at the top and bottom, is a closed visual tunnel in which the gaze is fixed on a single selected layer of experience, creating a sense of looping. The repeated images of the Louvre on both sides of the composition reinforce the motif of a closed cycle in which memory reproduces itself.
The female figure holds the Eiffel Tower as a materialized memory, a carrier of time. The objects on her skirt — fragments of everyday life that the artist photographed in a rented Paris apartment — show how personal attachment to the past structures reality and transforms the city into a retained inner landscape.
In reality, we move in a straight line, but art is a lever with which we can control time and return to the past in order to relive an inspiring experience.
