Biography

Vladimir Nikolaevich Korkodym (born February 12, 1940, Vladivostok, Primorsky Krai, RSFSR, USSR) is a Russian painter. Honored Artist of Russia. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1980).

In 1961 he graduated from the Art School in Vladivostok. In 1970 graduated from the Moscow Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. In 1970 graduated from the Moscow Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov (workshop of A.M. Gritsai, D.D. Zhilinsky and S.N. Shilnikov). For some time taught at the Polygraphic Institute. Exhibited at numerous national, all-Union and group exhibitions. Lived and worked first in the Vologda region, at the moment lives and works in the village of Pavlovskoye, Arkhangelsk region. Has an apartment and studio in Moscow.

His canvases are real Russian landscapes. The author is able to embody the diversity of the Russian soul, to express his love for his native nature. Sincere admiration for her and constant striving for perfection make the artist repeatedly return to the same motif. It should be borne in mind that the Russian North - is the Russian North and, for example, in winter to write incomparably more difficult. You have to struggle with natural phenomena: frost, wind, snowfall, and the colors in the cold become thick. But the master claims that the more you have to overcome the resistance of the material, weather conditions and mood, the better the picture turns out. Painting has become for him a source of life, a spring that gives the author and the viewer intoxication, calmness, lightness and endless joy. Every year he waits for the onset of winter, spring, summer and fall, to once again come from afar to the same pine tree or to the same shore, which he painted for several seasons, and continue painting. Having painted a sketch or series, he uses the material he has collected to work in the studio to create a large composition, with which he then returns to the chosen spot and checks himself. The aim is not just to complete the work, but to bring it to the highest possible perfection. Any landscape by Korkodym is a true hymn to nature.

The works of V.N.Korkodym are represented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Institute of Russian Realistic Art, Bryansk Regional Art Museum and Exhibition Center, Tyumen Regional Museum of Fine Arts, in various museums of the country, as well as in private collections in Russia, France, Germany, Finland, Spain, USA and other countries.
