Biography
It seemed to me that if there are past lives, then there was something very important lost in mine. I couldn’t shake the feeling that my blancmange, a white dog, had once been taken from my hands, lifted from an antique sofa made by Gambs and thrown onto the cold asphalt of the late 20th century with the words “live here as you wish.”
When I wrote a series about pre-revolutionary times, I had the feeling that I was closing the gestalt, living out what had not been lived through, and finally returning the lost pieces of the puzzle.
This inner work helps me accept the present moment with pleasure and lead the second series - about what surrounds me today. Humor and observation take center stage here. It’s like I’m collecting diamonds in a treasury: what a cat looks like when he secretly eats from my plate, a funny sign in an Abkhazian cafe, the southern flavor of a plump girl on an Adler bus.
What unites these two collections is a naive style - a direction that helps me convey what I myself love most: a positive outlook on the world, honesty, humor, emotions, freedom of expression and spontaneity.
