My grandfather, who owned this sewing machine, was very, very kind. His kindness, like a balloon, carried smoothly through all our childhood, warming, protecting. Before he began to live in our house as an old man, he lived alone, we did not find his grandmother, she left early. We came to him from the kindergarten-school, brought
bread while mom was at work. We go to him, and he sits at the window at the table and tries to thread a needle. On the table are laid out work gloves, which
he repaired them by putting huge patches on them. There are huge black metal scissors, similar to those with which he sheared sheep. There are needle-cases made of gray coarse linen fabric with a pale rare stripe. Of course, we immediately rushed to help him and in return received his sincere thanks. His image always lives in my heart, as the image of a simple, sincere person, overshadowed by a halo of light of kindness and modesty. This machine meant a lot to him. I dare to compare it with the possession of a modern person of an excellent car. He treated her very carefully.
