Lyssenko Andrey Gavrilovitch (1916-2000). Official Honored Artist of Russian Federation.
Name of Russian painter A.G. Lyssenko there is in the top list of the most significant names of the Russian painting of the middle of the 20th century. A.G. Lyssenko is in the first place a distinguished master of historical paintings, but also his landscapes, portraits and still lives cause great interest for art collectors too.
Russian painter A.G. Lyssenko was graduated from State Art Academy named after Surikov. His art teachers were world-famous artists as I.Grabar, B. Johanson, A. Lentulov, S.V. Gerasimov. He was awarded with the grant named after I.Repin for his brilliant diploma painting ‘Parade in 1941. The Oath’ (currently in one of the largest private collections in USA).
In his work-studio at Verkhnyaya Maslovka street A.G. Lyssenko worked on orders from the USSR government for the major museums of this country – Tretyakov Gallery, Russian Museum, Soviet Army Museum and many regional museums. Together with that artist created serials of landscapes, portraits and still lives. Artworks by A.G. Lyssenko have been numerously commended with the state rewards, and he was awarded by the title of official Honored Artist of Russian Federation.
