Sunlight on the snow

This painting represents a scene of a small garden after a snowfall. The next day, the bright sun illuminated the garden, and it looked very cozy, somehow homely. The variety of shades of blue and deep blue impressed the author, and he tried to convey this in this work. He used an impressionistic technique, rich textured brushstrokes, to convey the lightness of the snow caps on the branches and the softness of the snow cover on the ground. The dark strokes of the shadows additionally shaded the bright glare of light in the open areas.
