The work was written in the open air in Khvalynsk-the birthplace of the artist Petrov-Vodkin. This area once had a sea - so the hills and mountains are made up of chalk. And the summer is very hot and there are a lot of essential oils in the air - so the wind has a wonderful aroma of steppe herbs.
