John the Baptist Monastery is a male monastery of the Astrakhan diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in the city of Astrakhan.
The people of the St. John the Baptist Monastery are often called "the church on the Big Isads", since it is located near the large Astrakhan market "Big Isads".
The monastery was founded in 1688 at the expense of the Astrakhan Metropolitan Savvaty outside the White City, on Ivanovskaya Street, across the Kutum River (a branch of the Volga).
