Biography

Olga S. Zhvania (Kononova)


Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Graduated from Nicholas Roerich Saint Petersburg Art School ( former Tavricheskaya Art School) with a degree in Commercial Art in 1992.


Work Experience:

Manager of the Tutorial Fund at Nicholas Roerich Saint Petersburg Art School. Taught Lettering and Handwriting, Ornamental Arrangement.

Participated in creating and developing different advertising websites, developed the adverts for the public transport.


But I have always been beckoned with a still-life. That is why I was fond of both ornamental art and still-life painting.


A still-life painting seems to be immovable, but it intrigues me with its invisible and hidden inner life. A plenty of tiny movements and microscopic vibrations are hidden because of its static character. Though it is nature morte, at the same time it is full of live object interection. Making it look compelling, mysterious, vibrant, or beautiful is another matter. I have been always impressed and encouraged by such masters as Giorgio Morandi, Amadeo Modigliani and Vincent van Gogh. The impressionists have always been my favourites.


Personally, I am not the member of any societies or groups, but I took part in different exhibitions many times. Lots of my works have been bought for private collections.
