Thaw

Thaw in March! -- Its wonderful!
The faded fabric of winter melts,
pigeons in puddles, drips from the roof,
the sky brightens already at the earliest.

The wind brings the ringing of bells,
they are doing services in the parish in the morning.
You want to go out of the house to the square,
and shout to the spring drops: hurray!

But you keep yourself in check with indifference,
sedately looking at the morning dawn.
The day begins in a tone of decency.
Slowly, surely, the light moves.
