The work was created based on sketches and impressions from regular visits to the I.E. Repin Academic Dacha. The painting depicts an architectural monument—an octagonal pavilion, built in 1885 with funds from Kokorev to a design by the architect V.A. Kenel. It is richly decorated with saw-cut and blind carving and became the artistic and architectural centerpiece of the entire Repin dacha complex.
