Birches

Bright blue sky breaks through the branches of birches on a small hillock in the forest. Far behind the birch grove, dark fir trees can be seen. On the snow lie narrow stripes of shadows from thin slender white trunks. Thaws are barely visible. In the bright sun gleams the golden foliage. Clear, cloudless day. The beginning of spring.
