The peach was cultivated by man in the most ancient times. The birthplace of this plant is not known for sure, but many scientists believe that it is China. The Chinese believe that these golden fruits grow in the gardens of the gods and give them a long life. There are even jade peaches in the crypt of the last Chinese Empress Qi Xi.
In painting, a peach means longevity.
