Biography
Hello, dear guests and colleagues, art lovers and lovers of beauty!
Vladimir Hansen (born 1987) is a contemporary Russian artist working in Syktyvkar (Komi Republic). His main activity is painting in the poster aesthetics of the 40-60s of the XX century. In his works, he turns to the visual language of the middle of the century, reinterpreting it by means of modern artistic practice.
The formation of his artistic method was influenced by the American illustrative school of the mid-20th century, in particular by such masters as Kenton Nelson and Jill Elvgren. Like Nelson, who continues to work with the theme of everyday life, the artist strives to endow scenes with inner dignity and compositional integrity. Elvgren's experience, focused mainly on the female figure, influenced Vladimir's interest in plastics, character and emotional expressiveness of characters.
In his painting, the female image occupies a significant place as a carrier of the atmosphere of the era and a subtle psychological state. From the tradition of the illustrative school of the middle of the century, he retains the clarity of construction, expressive silhouette and thoughtful work with light, while forming an independent author's language without directly quoting historical sources.
The Western culture of the first half of the 20th century had a significant impact on the visual perception of the artist. The atmosphere of the working-class neighborhoods of London and Birmingham, the appearance of poor streets, brick facades and factory silhouettes, as well as a restrained palette form a sense of historical depth and inner rigor in his works. These motifs are organically interwoven into the compositions, enhancing the sense of time and space without direct historical specification.
Combining the Soviet visual tradition and the Western aesthetic culture of the middle of the century, Vladimir Hansen creates images filled with restrained nostalgia and inner peace. A clear composition, local color, expressive silhouette and thoughtful subject environment create a sense of stability and emotional closeness.
