Gutina Lena

Biography

Lena Gutina (LeGu) is a professional artist with a formal art education (IGTA, Faculty of Design). She currently works in contemporary graphics and digital collage and is presenting her archival series “Chubby Characters.”

This series reveals a world of strange, funny, and surprisingly alive characters. Her Chubby Characters emerge from everyday observations: they drink tea, ride the subway, fall in love, and find themselves in the most ridiculous situations. In their crooked, uneven little bodies it’s easy to recognize yourself — and that’s exactly why LeGu’s work resonates so strongly.

The series is created in the direction of naive contemporary and illustrative fine art, blending gentle absurdity, irony, and warm attention to human imperfections. “Chubby Characters” is her way of telling small stories about big feelings that often go unnoticed.
