Biography

My creative pseudonym: Elena Mertsai. I work and exhibit under this pseudonym. She was born in Severodvinsk. November 30, 1972. I live in St. Petersburg. I have been conducting professional creative activity for more than 23 years. I have a professional artistic and pedagogical education.
In general, I am interested in drawing everything from animals to military equipment, but I gave priority to the animalistic genre (based on tropical animals, plants and horses) and nudity. And yet it is difficult for me to keep myself within any definite limits. The conditions of execution are dictated to me by the soul. How and what to portray. I write in a classical and impressionistic style, but if the best way to solve a creative problem is any other style or even mixing them, then so be it. Some works were acquired by museums of the Murmansk region.

The basis of my creativity is devoted to everything tropical: from people living there to insects. The whole spectrum of flora and fauna. The tropical theme – first of all for me it is esotericism, myths and mysticism, but not the research of aborigines, but the expression of my soul, its inspiration, its revelation about what is happening around through tropical images. And this is my first important project. The project is called "Warmed by the Sun".
The second project appeared recently. It is dedicated to Matter as such. I admire the material world, its uniqueness and diversity in content and in the possibility of transformation. We live inside Matter, are a part of it and contain the matter of other worlds in ourselves. A different kind of matter (substance) is taken as a basis and a semantic composition is compiled. Matter is written hyperrealistically, but in everyday life we cannot see it in this form since nature (matter) is represented by microscopy. The works are made in combined styles - hyperrealism + abstraction. And I called this style Microscopism.
I am a member of the ECX, PSRX, IUAA, MASI.
I cooperate with galleries in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
