Biography
Ivan Panfilov (1957) is the member of the International Fegeration of Artists UNESCO and National Artist’s Union of Russia. He lives in Moscow. His father (who was a pilot and an artist) gave him the first lessons of paintings. Ivan graduated from the State Correspondence University of Arts, “Icon paintings” school and courses “Painting on wood”.
Ivan’s young life was influenced by Van Gogh, Vrubel, Roerich. His first works showed his attempt to look at the world philosophically.
In his paintings and sketches he deliberately chose a monochromic spectrum of dull colours that reflects his own perception of the world. He often experiments by mixing paints in different combinations.
The artist creates several collections united by a general theme. Genre and the different techniques of each collection changes with the theme of each painting.
Each series of paintings has it’s own expressive language, but the main theme of the artist’s creative work is the dialogue between nature and the “civilised” world.
Ivan Panfilov’s drawings and paintings are at the Temnikov local-history museum (Russia) and at the collections in Russia, Portugal and other countries.
