Biography
Andrei Drobinin was born in the small Russian town of Novaya Ladoga. Later the family moved to Volkhov, where he studied painting and drawing at the Volkhov School of Art. In 1987, Andrei Drobinin graduated in design from Leningrad Art College named after V.A. Serov (the name of the college was changed and it has the name of Nikolai Rerikh at the present time). That was when Saint Petersburg had become the painter’s second small motherland. Starting from 1988, Andrei Drobinin actively participated in local and regional art exhibitions. Around that time Andrei was offered to teach drawing at the Volkhov School of Art. His first personal exhibition took place in the Town of Staraya Ladoga in 2004. From 2012 till now Andrei work in with many design studious as both an artist and a designer. The artist prefers graphic arts, working in different technics – oil pastel, ink, pencil drawing, but when it comes to paints, Andrei gives preference to oil. The artist has had a set of favorite subjects such as portraying, genre painting and drawing, landscapes and works specially made for interior. Cityscapes of Saint Petersburg which Andrei is fascinated with hold the most unique position in the artist’s art.
