Biography


Born in 1922 in Russia, in the village of Svischevka in the Tambov region. From 1938 to 1941 he studied at the Astrakhan Art School. In 1941-1947 he served as a sailor in the navy, a participant in World War II.
He continued his studies at the Penza Art School in 1947-1950. After graduating, he worked as an artist in the Penza branch of the Art Fund of the RSFSR, for some time he was its director. At the age of 40, he fell ill with tuberculosis and struggled with the disease for several years. After recovery, he devoted himself entirely to creativity. Participated in many exhibitions. In 1975, he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. The main direction in the work of Vasily Belikov is landscape. To a lesser extent - still life and portrait. The master's style of painting is impressionism. The artist's paintings are in the Penza Regional Art Gallery and in private collections in Russia and abroad, were sold at auctions in the USA, Italy, Ireland.
The artist's name is included in the "Dictionary of Russian and Soviet Artists of the Twentieth Century", in the "World Biographical Dictionary of Artists", as well as in art books - "Artists of the Sura Region" and "Penza Art School 1898-1914 from K.A.Savitsky to the Present Day".
