Russian polar Explorer Georgy Sedov in 1912 made an unsuccessful attempt to conquer the North pole. Planning from Arkhangelsk to reach Franz Josef on the ship, Sedov wanted to later use a sled for further movement on drifting ice. But in 1912, the ship was unable to reach targets due to block the path of the ice and remained at a wintering ground on a Novaya Zemya Islands.. .
