Semushin Alexander. "Mr.McKINLI, ESCAPING FROM THE REALITY"
There is the trans-surreal illustration of social parable by renowned as Soviet director Mikhail Schweitzer and scenario was written by Leonid Leonov. The film became famous because of the fact that a series of ballads was written by Vladimir Vysotsky. There is a rare case of trying to understand straight expressed conflict interaction of personality and the world in A.Semushin’s work. Mr. McKinley dreams to have a lot of children and he has the very attractive girlfriend, it would seem that he does not have any obstacles. But the trouble is that he is not sure of himself, and, most importantly, in the fate of the world so steeped in the vices. He wants to get rid of all his troubles, lost in sleep for 300 years, to wake up in a bright and peaceful future. And he gets it, but only in a dream.
The choice of the plot, as well as his ironic interpretation is understandable, in view of the priorities of surrealism, in particular interest to the phenomenon of sleep and a different
reality. Broken lines, elongation of very conditional, sharply deformed "shapes", however, do not deprive them of some refinement, mannerisms. It would be appropriate to define such an approach as a surreal Mannerism. Although the color solution does not convince that this is a dream, but however a sense illusory arises. The artist portrayed reproductive dreams of the hero very resourceful.
