Andrei Voznesenski called Dmitry Shostakovich “panic pianist” in due time, keeping in mind the style of playing his masterpieces by Shostakovich - his manner to stick into the keys of piano, his sharp expression and inner tense. The interest of A.Semushin to Shostakovich is not accidental. Maestro was brilliant master of all the secrets of classic polyphony, but, at the same time, his creative work was notable for originality, his contemporaries were surprised by his innovative compositions and melodies, unusual for soviet authors of that time music freedom. This fact makes him close to surrealists, it is not by chance that in the end of 40-ies soviet musical critics blamed great symphonist for formalism.
The question appears – what is the relation between Shostakovich and Dali? We shouldn’t forget that surrealism is interesting for this fact – it is possible to join parts impossible to combine in the frameworks of united decorative area. It is possible to mark asymmetric composition of work – the “center of gravity” is replaced to the lower right corner, what increases expressiveness of an image. The same impression is given by central image – the hands of panic pianist blend with keys, they turn into inseparable instrument – exactly this impression was obtained by spectators of Shostakovich play.
