ELENA KOMAROVA
Elena Konstantinovna Komarova was born in the city of Berezniky in the Perm district in 1960.
In 1986 she graduated from Art and graphic faculty of the Chuvash State Pedagogical University.
From 1982 till 1988 she was a free attender at the St. Petersburg Art Academy, in the studio guided by E. E. Moiseenko.
In 1990 she was accepted as a members of the Union of Artists of Russia. Since 2004 Elena has been the member of the International Federation of Artists.
Elena Komarova is the participant of large Russian and foreign exhibitions, her works are in private collections both in Russia and abroad.
At a present stage of a creative way of the artist the painting close to impressionism dominates. Color scale constructed on soft combinations of ochre and light-blue, invoice of touch, have created an original picturesque style which absorbs a great experience of creative work in the field of art and applied art. The craving for impressionism, for expression of light-airy atmosphere, enveloping, washing away precise contours of buildings and human figures, is usual for both early paintings ("In the Sauna"), and for landscapes of resent years fulfilled by the author during tours to Italy and France. Elena has literally got used to architectural images of medieval cities, thoughtfully comprehending their peculiarity. The originality of their beauty refracted in deeply personal perception has resulted in creation of such amazing series as "Venice" and "Paris", filling us with sensation of poetic beauty of the cities which gave life to thousands of legends and literary associations.
In urban landscapes by Elena Komarova the synthesis of all gentle and sad, that is connected with Venice seems to be found. It is not only a poem about Venice, but also deep and concentrated thoughts about it, expressed in a transparency of silvery air and beauty of ancient houses reflected on smooth surface of channels ("Venezia. Ponte dei Sospiri").
“Ponte dei Sospiri" in the distance, as if dozing gondolas, sun illuminating smart facades of houses with galleries and windows in frames of patterned reliefs and flowers on cornices, all this merges in an image, full of special thoughtfulness and peace, (Venizia. "Canal Grande", "Ponte di Rialto"). The landscape by Elena Komarova can be considered one of the most poetic images of Venice ("Laguna di Venezia", "Venezia. Il giorno di sole"). In work "Venezia. Santa Maria della Salute" the depth of space of a landscape is created by quiet alternation of the plans. The smooth transition from generalized wide touches of color of the foreground through the worked details of the central part of the composition to melting in touches of a high line of horizon allows the spectator to be serenely present in the borders of a picture, finding rest and sincere harmony.
The exciting picturesque temperament is typical for a thematic series of works "Carnival in Venice". In splashing with expression and imagination works "Il Carnevale 1" and "Il Carnevale 2" in front of the spectator the unusual attractive show of the Italian holiday is developed.
The special place in the art of Elena Komarova is occupied by France and Paris. The landscapes depicting the shores of Seine, are delicately simple and clear in color and composite variant (" Paris. The Bridge of Arts in Cite ", " Paris. The Notre-Dame"), where the author does not hide somehow cool attitude to the city which attracted attention of many generations of poets and artists.
The romantic character is typical for chamber still-lifes of the artist in which she introduces new picturesque qualities directly connected to nature. Blossoming sunflowers, charming irises ("Still-life", "Irises"), are painted with a remarkable improvisation freedom easily and natural.
Elena Komarova has achieved colorful whole not by local color, not by picturesque light and shadow but by the correlation of color spots to receive the necessary color effect by intervals of color. The color scale of her works is rather various: that is gentle – mother-of-pearl combinations of color as in "Versailles. Moon lit night", she is immersed in mysterious confluence of greens and lilac colors or fills a cloth by powerful chords of hot color as in "Il Carnevale. Joker", solves the task in constrained gray-ochre scale. The artist turns to enrichment of a palette, adding bronze and silver in a mix of paints, that is why the images of Venice shine with strange imperceptible tone.
Elena Komarova is the foreman of elements of color. To what motive she would not address, there is her constant admiration of natural riches of colors, gentle colors. She passes sensation of a spontaneity of real impression in all genres of painting.
To comprehension of these eternal aesthetic categories aspires in the creativity the artist and incorrigible romantic Elena Komarova.
