The painter, the graphic. He also works in the following genres : object-polyrelief (metal, glass, wood, etc).
He was born on 15th of November 1961 in Magadan.
In 1965 his family left for Belarus, in Gomel, where he started to study drawing and painting in the Art Studio of the local Palace of Culture under the leadership of V.P. Pokatashkin.
Since 1979 he has been living and working in Leningrad (Saint-Peresburg), where as the fate decree he met the representatives of “ Saint-Petburg's Undergraund”: I.V. Konstantinov, V.V. Gavrilchik, I.V. Ivanov, U.I.Dyshlenko, Z.M.Kolovskiy.
More than 7 years N.Spiridonov worked in the workshop of Vladlen Vasilevich Gavrilchik, under his direct leadership. The Studio of young artists, organized by V.V. Gavrilchik, was given the name “ Study group of drawing”.The following specializations were studyed there, such as- genre painting, portrait, still life, cheap popular print, object.
At the same time Nikolai studied the creative working method of U.I.Dyshlenko on practice and his theoretical course “Penta – System”.
At the same time ( in 1982) the artist entered to the Leningrad Higher Artistic Professional School named after V.I. Muhina ( now- the Saint-Petersburg State Artistic -Technical Academy) on the department of Technical Art and Design.
From 1986 till 1990 he worked in the magazine “Aurora”, illustrating the “SWN”- the Section Without Name.
In 1987 N. Spiridonov started to collect “the street metal”, which afterward, became one of the main graphical components of his Objects and Polyreliefs.Some unusual things started to get to the collection of the artist, such as- crushed and flattened metal, some parts of mechanisms from traffic areas; different iron, bronze, brass, cristal breakage and many other things as well. Later on the artist started to create some ancient components of his compositions himself.
The first polyrelief “Too hard!” was created in 1995.The first exhibition of Polyreliefs and Objects of N.Spiridonov, under the common name “Second life”, took place in 2003 in Saint-Petersburg in the gallery “RosVuzDizain” and in the gallery “Bargese classic”.
At the present moment, besides his work with metal, N. Spiridonov came back to the painting.
